Mallio rip at Bill may be off track

- Jillian Jorgensen

A NEW COMMERCIAL from Republican mayoral hopeful Nicole Malliotakis blasts Mayor de Blasio for the city’s subways — which are run by the state.

Malliotakis, an assemblywoman who represents Staten Island and Brooklyn, has released her second television spot, dubbed “Subway Nightmare.”

“What’s it like riding the subway under Bill de Blasio? A lot like this,” she says, as the lights go out in an empty subway car she’s inside.

“A nightmare!” the candidate says, as someone flickers a lighter near her face to illuminate her.

De Blasio spent much of the summer seeking to remind commuters that it is Gov. Cuomo and the state government that runs the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. But Malliotakis has said de Blasio should pitch in half the cost of an emergency upgrade plan, as Cuomo has requested, and that his members on the board should be more vocal.
