best decisions to help you win.”

But when pushed about Familia, he became incredulous. The closer had surgery to remove a blood clot in his shoulder in May.

“Seriously?!?” Collins asked when Familia’s injury was brought up. “With the (World baseball Classic) and all the other factors? I am the reason? Ok, I’ll take it.”

Familia dismissed it, saying he didn’t think the blood clot was related to workload.

As for the clubhouse issues, Collins would not discuss them. Jacob deGrom and Wright, however, pointed the finger back at the players. DeGrom said he thought it was “ridiculous” for his teammates to take shots at the manager anonymously.

“You have those issues with Terry then you can go in there and talk to him,” deGrom said. “I have talked to him a lot since I have been here. I like him. His door is always open.

“But apparently not everybody feels that way.”

Part of the clubhouse culture issue stems from a lack of veteran leadership. Wright has missed the entire season as he is trying to rehab from neck and shoulder surgeries. The front office dealt away most of the other veterans who helped self-police the clubhouse.

“I am not here to blindly defend Terry. I am not going to discuss the tactical stuff or bullpen usage, that’s not my place,” Wright said. “I can say that to a man in that clubhouse, Terry has dealt with us as adults. He has treated us with respect and treated us as men. I would hope that the players in the clubhouse would have enough respect if not for the man but the position to say something to him. Treat him like a man as he does us.”

While the Mets were hoping that Collins would quietly retire, the 68-year-old does not want to just go out to pasture. He told The News he would step down as the manager of the Mets if asked to, but he will not give up his option of working in baseball next season.

So it seems like it will be another messy divorce for the team that fired then-manager Willie Randolph at 3 a.m. after a win on the West Coast in 2008.

Mets GM Sandy Alderson did not reply to questions about the allegations that Collins went against the front office’s instructions, lost the clubhouse or contributed to the injury issues that plagued the team this season. Assistant GM John Ricco was on the trip with the Mets, but did not make himself available for comment before the game. right, however, wanted to go on the record about the man who has been his manager for the past seven

Wseasons. “We are together for six months, we are around each other every day, we are in that clubhouse and with the coaching staff and the players more than we are around our family. His door is 10 feet from there. Man up and go talk to him,” Wright said. “Since he has been here, his door is always open, whether it’s your first day in the big leagues or your 15th year….I don’t know who these guys are but my guess are they are guys whose season hasn’t gone like they wanted it. Maybe they aren’t having a good season, or maybe they didn’t get the playing time they wanted.

Man up and talk to him.”
