2. STOP THE RUN

-

Top Bucs back Doug Martin is serving the final game of a PED suspension, so the Bucs (3.3 yards per carry) aren’t running the ball much better than the Giants (3.1). Still, the Giants’ rush defense is allowing a league-high 153.3 yards per game due primarily to poor tackling, so if they can’t stuff Jacquizz Rodgers and make Tampa’s offense one-dimensional, it will be a long day in the hot Florida sun. Getting B.J. Goodson (shin) back at middle linebacker would help, but outside LBs Jonathan Casillas (ankle/wrist) and Devon Kennard have struggled, big-money defensive tackle Damon Harrison hasn’t matched last year’s All-Pro form, Olivier Vernon (ankle) is banged up, and Jason Pierre-Paul was worrisomely quiet in Philly. Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was snarly in Thursday’s press availability and the Eagles’ 193 rush yards left a sour taste.
