Going ‘silent’ on House legislation
THE HOUSE’S plans to pass a bill this week allowing easier access to gun silencers will be suppressed indefinitely after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, House Republicans said Tuesday.
“That bill is not scheduled now, I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled,” House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin said. “Right now. we’re focused on passing our budget.”
Rep. Chris Collins of New York told reporters he didn’t think there was “any support to bring it up.”
The House had been planning to vote on the SHARE Act, which would have also eased restrictions on the sale of some forms of armor-piercing bullets, as early as this week.
