Why Blaz is king of crater N.Y.

-

HE ONCE said he didn’t want to be the Pothole Mayor, but he doesn’t seem to mind it now that he’s filled 1.5 million of them.

Mayor de Blasio took to a Bronx street corner Friday morning to tout the pothole milestone, saying the number of complaints had dropped by more than half since 2015.

“It may not be the work that gets the most attention, but repaving is one of the most important things the city government does,” he said.

He used to be cooler about the task.

“I’m more interested in being the education mayor, the affordable housing mayor, than the pothole mayor. But I know my agencies have to fill the potholes,” he told The News editorial board back in 2015.
