Dems to donate film big’s gifts

- BY NANCY DILLON

SENS. CHUCK Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand and Cory Booker joined the ranks of several prominent Democrats distancing themselves from Harvey Weinstein on Friday.

They promised to give thousands of dollars in political donations from the embattled movie mogul to women’s charities after a bombshell New York Times report said he preyed on aspiring actresses and female employees over three decades.

“Senator Schumer is donating all of the contributions to several charities supporting women,” spokesman Angelo Roefaro told the Daily News.

The total amount rerouted by the New York senator will be $14,200, his office said.

“Sen. Booker’s campaign is donating the $7,800 received from Weinstein to the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault,” a Booker spokesman told The News.

Booker, who became New Jersey’s junior senator in 2013, is considered a possible presidential candidate.

Gillibrand said Friday she will donate the full $11,800 she received from Weinstein to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), the largest American nonprofit serving victims of sexual violence.

“Kirsten invites the right wing activists using this terrible story as a political tool to join her in actually working to combat sexual assault and sexual harassment in our society,” Glen Caplin, Gillibrand’s senior adviser, said in a statement.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota were also among those closing the curtain on the Oscar winner.

Hillary Clinton and former President Obama did not comment. President Trump’s son alluded to their silence in a Twitter post.

“Will She/they all Disavow? Embattled Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein Raised Big Bucks For Hillary Clinton & Dems,” Donald Trump Jr. posted.

The Republican National Committee published a chart of “Harvey’s Dirty Democratic Donations.” The RNC claimed the Democratic National Committee received more than $200,000 from Weinstein over the years.

“The Democratic party condemns all forms of sexual harassment and assault. We hope that Republicans will do the same as we mark one year since the release of a tape showing President Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women followed by more than a dozen women who came forward to detail similar experiences of assault and harassment,” DNC spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said in an email.
