‘Spoonful’ rocker held in kid porn

- Rachel DeSantis

A MEMBER OF the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Lovin’ Spoonful has been arrested in Arkansas on charges of child pornography.

Jerry Yester — who played piano on the band’s 1965 hit “Do You Believe in Magic” — was booked Thursday and faces 30 counts of possession of child porn, a spokesman for the Boone County Jail told the Daily News.

The 74-year-old musician (photo inset) was released on a $35,000 bond that same day. He was nabbed by the cybercrimes unit of the state attorney general’s office, according to TMZ.

Yester was a session musician when he hit the keys for the band’s most popular song, but a year later, he produced their album “Renaissance.”

He officially joined the band in 1968 to replace guitarist Zal Yanovsky, though his membership was short-lived. The Lovin’ Spoonful disbanded following the departure of founding member John Sebastian, leaving Yester to perform on just one album, “Everything Playing.”

Yester also produced Tom Waits’ debut album in 1973.
