Don spikes ball in praising Pence
PRESIDENT TRUMP spent Columbus Day at his golf club in Virginia, where he faced off against frequent critic Lindsey Graham.
In a surprise move, the White House acknowledged Trump was hitting the links at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling. While he’s regularly visited golf courses throughout his presidency, the press office generally refuses to acknowledge he’s playing.
The South Carolina senator, who opposed Trump in the race for the 2016 presidential nomination, tweeted about their game.
“Really enjoyed a round of golf with President @realDonaldTrump today. President Trump shot a 73 in windy and wet conditions!” he tweeted. “Great fun. Great host.”
As a candidate, Trump repeatedly attacked President Barack Obama for his time playing golf, and vowed he would be too busy to play if he were President. PRESIDENT TRUMP is offering praise for his lineman.
While Vice President Mike Pence has come under fire from critics for his costly walkout from a Colts game on Sunday, he’s getting nothing but kudos from his boss.
“The trip by @VP Pence was long planned. He is receiving great praise for leaving game after the players showed such disrespect for country!” Trump posted on Twitter Monday morning.
Pence walked out of the game when players on the San Francisco 49ers kneeled during the national anthem.
The trip to Indianapolis cost taxpayers at least $250,000 for Pence to fly from Las Vegas to Indianapolis and then back west to Los Angeles on Sunday. EPA ADMINISTRATOR Scott Pruitt said Monday he will repeal the Clean Power Plan in yet another move by the Trump administration to wipe out one of former President Barack Obama’s signature environmental actions.
“The war on coal is over,” Pruitt told a crowd of coal miners at an event in Hazard, Ky.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, joined him for the announcement.
Pruitt framed the Clean Power Plan — a rule limiting greenhouse gas emissions from power plants — as an overstep of federal authority.
