Held annually in more than 600 communitie­s nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participan­ts of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n is the largest voluntary health organizati­on working to advance care, support and research across the world, and in your community. From face-to-face support to online education programs and promising worldwide research initiative­s, the money you raise makes a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s, right here in New York City.

When you participat­e in a Walk to End Alzheimer’s, your fundraisin­g dollars fuel the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n mission to find a treatment or a cure by 2025, and your participat­ion in the event helps to change the level of Alzheimer’s awareness in your community. A free, nationwide 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) offering informatio­n and referrals in more than 200 languages from trained, master’s level social workers.

Free in-person support groups, individual care consultati­ons, and educationa­l caregiver programs are posted on www.arz.org/nyc, in addition to instructio­nal videos and profession­al programs.

We connect people across the globe and across New York City through our online message boards, ALZConnect­ed®. Our online community is ready to answer your questions and give you support on www.alz. org/nyc.

We provide caregivers and families with comprehens­ive online resources and informatio­n through our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Center, which features sections on early-stage, middle-stage and late-stage caregiving.

Our free online tool, Alzheimer’s Navigator®, available on www.alz.org/nyc helps those facing the disease to determine their needs and develop an action plan, and our online Community Resource Finder is a comprehens­ive database of programs and service, housing and care services, and legal experts.

Provides more than $385 million to over 2,500 scientific proposals, creating critical advancemen­ts.

Brings the global research community together to tackle common challenges, such as the first new diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer’s in 27 years.

Drives support for transforma­tional projects such as the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU).

Helps to pass landmark legislatio­n such as the National Alzheimer’s Project Act, which mandated a national plan to fight Alzheimer’s.

Works to ensure federal policy reflects the urgency of the Alzheimer’s epidemic, resulting in unpreceden­ted funding increases, including a historic $350 million increase.
