On himself for Giant flop of a season

-

doo continued to shoulder much of the blame for the disappointing season on Monday.

“Part of being in a slump is finding a way to win with the team you have,” he said. “Haven’t been able to get that done and that’s my responsibility.”

McAdoo also continued to express optimism and faith in his staff and team, although he does not really have much of a choice if he is indeed fighting to keep his job.

“I believe in this group of players and coaches and what this team could be,” he said. “We’re not there yet, but we owe it to each other and the organization to handle ourselves with class and prepare well this week and give us a chance to win the ballgame Sunday night.”

MAC SAYS JACK

With 40 seconds still on the clock in Sunday’s loss to the Chargers, Janoris Jenkins decided to head to the locker room instead of remaining with the team until the game was officially over.

McAdoo said the matter would be handled internally.

When asked a follow-up, the Giants coach remained silent, refusing to give any of his feelings on the situation.

APPLE MAC

Eli Apple, who was benched the first three series on Sunday, said after the game that it is not just one guy at fault, but the whole culture needs to be fixed. McAdoo did his best to avoid addressing that on Monday.

“I think we’re in a slump right now and we need to get back to work and make sure we’re holding each other and ourselves accountable,” he said. “The standards can’t drop, the standards got to stay high and we got to figure out how to close these games in the fourth quarter with wins.”
