YOUNG & ON RUN

-

The Jets will likely be forced to turn to a rookie in the backfield Sunday.

Bilal Powell has been diagnosed with a strained calf after undergoing tests, Bowles said. Powell suffered the injury late in the first half after an 11-yard reception. He didn’t play in the second half, and now his status for Sunday is up in the air. Powell is “day-to-day,” Bowles said. Meanwhile, starter Matt Forte (turf toe) missed his second straight game Sunday. If both Forte and Powell are unavailable, sixth-round pick Elijah McGuire will start against New England.
