Person, 53, was accused of taking $91,500 in bribe payments in return for steering players to hire a specific financial adviser once they reached the NBA. The adviser turned out to be a government witness.
The scandal led to the dismissal of Louisville’s Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino and the school’s athletic director amid allegations of a $100,000 payment to land a prized recruit.
The sports apparel company Adidas was also implicated in the pay-to-play corruption, with its director of global sports marketing indicted along with three other assistant coaches.
