B’klyn girl, 10, struck by car

“There’s marks on both sides of the walls where he was bouncing, coming down and out,” he said. “Two people that lived above him saw him, came down, and tried to put him out, because they saw he was smoldering. They put water on him, they did the best they could, but (with) his burns, they didn’t have a chance.”

Kubler said the smoke detector in the apartment was not working. A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was seriously injured when she ran into traffic and was hit by a car in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning, police said.

Witnesses told cops the girl ran into the street on Utica Ave. near Church Ave. in East Flatbush about 7:35 a.m. and was hit by the car, which had a green light.

The motorist told police that he tried to avoid the child but couldn’t, police sources said. The girl remained conscious as medics rushed her to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car remained at the scene. No charges were immediatel­y filed.
