No CHIP-ing away at kid health: gov
ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo on Wednesday warned that inaction by Congress has jeopardized health care for 350,000 kids in New York — including nearly 132,000 in the city.
Cuomo slammed Congress for not renewing the Children’s Health Insurance Program before it expired on Oct. 1, a failure that could cost the state $1 billion in funding.
Legislation to renew the CHIP program appears to be moving forward in both the House and Senate, but it’s uncertain when final votes will take place in either chamber. Cuomo urged Congress to take action immediately.
