Vance has new rival
A FORMER Brooklyn prosecutor is launching a long-shot bid to unseat Cy Vance Jr. as Manhattan district attorney.
Civil rights attorney Marc Fliedner announced a lastminute write-in run on Wednesday amid the uproar over the 2005 failure of Vance’s office to prosecute movie mogul Harvey Weinstein on sexual assault charges.
Fliedner, 55, lost a crowded Democratic primary for Brooklyn DA against incumbent Eric Gonzalez last month.
Vance, 63, is running for his third term as DA.
