Battered Big Blue pieces together corps

- MANISH MEHTA

THE Giants quickly cobbled together a receiving corps to face the Broncos Sunday in the wake of last weekend’s devastating injuries but are still working out other options. Free agents Philly Brown, Demarcus Ayers, Kalif Raymond, Jeremy Ross and Canaan Severin worked out for the Giants already this week, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

Brown, 25, had 79 catches for the Panthers from 2014-2016. Ayers, 23, had six grabs for the Steelers in 2016. Raymond, 23, has no receptions in six career games for the Broncos (four in 2016) and Jets (two in 2017). Ross, 29, is the elder statesman, with 43 career grabs on six different teams the past five years. Severin, 24, has no regular season experience and was cut by the Giants at the end of camp.

VON STUMPS FOR ODELL

Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller, who talked with great friend Odell Beckham Jr. after his Tuesday ankle surgery, said Wednesday that the Giants receiver deserves to be the highest paid player in NFL history, just as OBJ proclaimed.

“Odell should be the highest paid player ever in the National Football League,” Miller said in a conference call after Broncos practice. “He should be the highest paid player ever, regardless of position.”

TOO MUCH DRAMA

Brandon Marshall had season-ending ankle surgery Tuesday but the ongoing national anthem debate had him tweeting up a storm on Wednesday morning.
