Top cops smack talk over Twitter
COURTESY, PROFESSIONALISM, respect — and a good old fashioned friendly gamble. NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill has accepted a challenge from his counterpart in Houston as the Yankees take on the Astros in the American League Championship series Friday. Houston police chief Art Acevedo kicked off the all-in-good-fun feud on Twitter Thursday, telling O’Neill he would look good in an Astros jersey. “P.S: here’s to an @astros win because it may be difficult to find @Yankees gear in @HoustonTX or in the State of TX for that matter,” Acevedo added when O’Neill failed to respond to his proposed wager. But on Friday the Brooklyn-born NYPD boss not only accepted — but added a little ribbing of his own. “Hey @ArtAcevedo, don’t worry about finding @Yankees gear in Texas, I’m sending a jersey/hat to you myself. You’re a what—youth medium?” he wrote. O’Neill also offered a valid excuse for taking a full day to reply to Acevedo’s provocations. “Sorry it took a while to respond chief. We were too busy counting our 27 rings,” O’Neill said.
