EX-MET & YANK BELTRAN HELPING

-

ALBANY — THE YANKEES aren’t the only thing Houston Astros’ slugger Carlos Beltran is taking on these days. Beltran’s Carlos Beltran Foundation is working with state officials and Major League Baseball to distribute more than 160,000 pounds of supplies donated by New Yorkers for storm-ravaged Puerto Rico, Gov. Cuomo announced Friday. “Puerto Rico needs our help now more than ever, and we are proud to partner with Gov. Cuomo and the state of New York to provide critical supplies and assistance the island as they recover from Hurricane Maria,” Beltran, a Puerto Rico native, said in a statement. The supplies, including bottles of water, diapers and baby food and wipes, were flown to Puerto Rico Thursday aboard an MD-11 cargo plane chartered by Major League Baseball. Beltran’s foundation is distributing the goods around the island. Beltran, a former New York Met and Yankee, has also donated $1 million toward Hurricane Relief. Glenn Blain
