Bully’s mom is charged in fatal stabbing
POLICE HAVE charged a Brooklyn woman they say fatally stabbed a neighbor as they tried to hash out a feud between their sons, police said Friday.
Latrisha Moore, 40, is facing murder and weapons charges for allegedly knifing Shymeka Tart, 31, during a Wednesday night clash outside Moore’s seventhfloor apartment in the Carey Gardens Houses on Surf Ave. in Coney Island.
Moore (photo) is also charged with criminal possession of stolen property because cops say they found a handgun that had been reported stolen in her apartment.
Tart, who lived on the fifth floor, went to Moore’s home about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday because Moore’s teenage son was bullying Tart’s 15-year-old son Denzell, neighbors said. Tart wanted to solve the problem peacefully and everyone agreed to go to the 60th Precinct stationhouse when the two boys started arguing.
Tart was allegedly trying to separate the youths when Moore jammed a kniife into her chest. Medics rushed Tart to Coney Island Hospital, where she died. Moore was arrested at the scene.
More than a year ago, Moore told the Housing Authority management that she had a “mental health disability issue.” NYCHA referred her to a mental health-related social services provider, officials said.
