Demotions for cops in rape claim
AS A Brooklyn grand jury hears evidence against two NYPD cops accused of sexually assaulting a drug suspect — the officers have been demoted, the Daily News has learned.
Richard Hall and Eddie Martins were demoted from probationary detective to police officer on Wednesday, cop sources told The News. They were previously stripped of their guns and assigned to desk duty after an 18-year-old woman made the claim last month.
The pair from Brooklyn South Narcotics allegedly handcuffed the woman in a Bath Beach park after finding pot and an anxiety drug in a bag next to her.
The woman said the cops drove her to a parking lot in Coney Island and assaulted her while she was handcuffed.
One officer raped her and both forced her to perform a sex act, she told investigators. Hall and Martins say the sex was consensual.
