Protecting a 2-0 lead, Masahiro Tanaka got in trouble in the fifth, giving up a one-out single to Marwin Gonzalez and walking Brian McCann. He then struck out George Springer on a 95-MPH fastball and Josh Reddick on an 89MPH splitter to get out of the inning.
TURNING POINT
The fifth inning was when it all started to fall apart for the Astros. A single and throwing error had Chase Headley on second base with one out. Dallas Keuchel pitched around Aaron Judge with two outs to face Gary Sanchez, who singled in a run. Then Keuchel gave up a single to Didi Gregorius that was just out of the reach of Jose Altuve to bring in another run.
