Call the mayor Bill d’oh Blasio

HE’S NO Mayor Quimby, but Mayor de Blasio will still get a chance to be part of Springfield history.

De Blasio will be part of a mockumentary based on the plot of “Homer at the Bat,” a baseballcentric 1992 episode of “The Simpsons.”

“I’m a huge Simpsons fan and I’m a huge baseball fan,” de Blasio said Thursday. “I don’t know how it came across the plate — it did not come to me directly, it came to members of my team. But of course I said yes.”

In the episode, Homer Simpson becomes the standout player on the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant’s softball team, thanks to a lucky bat made of a tree hit by lightning. The episode includes appearances by Don Mattingly and Darryl Strawberry.
