Praise like Yanking teeth

MAYOR DE BLASIO may not have been rooting for the Yankees, but he found some nice words for them after their loss to the Astros in the American League Championship Series.

The mayor, a Red Sox fan, tweeted his congratulations to the team “that gave it their all and defied the odds.” And though he rarely writes his own tweets, he told reporters Sunday he penned the message himself.

“If you’re a real baseball fan like I am, you respect a team that came together and really played exceptionally,” de Blasio said.

Hizzoner had confessed it was “constitutionally impossible” for him to root for the Yankees, but promised to give them a parade if they won the World Series, a task he will now be spared.
