Russia probe eyes Podesta bro biz
THE SPECIAL counsel’s probe into Russian election meddling now includes the Democraticleaning Podesta Group, according to a report.
Robert Mueller is looking into the group headed by Tony Podesta, the brother of Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, over its dealings with a Ukrainian government-linked firm, NBC reported Monday.
Mueller is tasked with investigating alleged Moscow interference in the election in favor of Trump, though one of his lines of inquiry has centered on the President’s ALBANY — New York’s top two Democrats joined forces Monday to rally opposition against the GOP’s tax reform plan — especially the elimination of a deduction for state and local taxes.
In a rare public appearance together, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Gov. Cuomo called on New York’s entire congressional delegation to oppose any tax plan that eliminates the deduction.
“State and local deductibility is one-time campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his work for Russia’s neighbor Ukraine.
Part of Manafort’s efforts for the pro-Kremlin Party of the Regionsincluded work with the Brussels-based European Center for a Modern Ukraine.
The prosecutor is now reportedly conducting a criminal inquiry into Tony Podesta and his group for failure to register as a foreign agent, which is compulsory when lobbying American lawmakers for another country. The company maintains it followed the law. a dagger aimed at the heart of New York and particularly of so many of our middle-class residents,” Schumer said during a press conference with Cuomo in the suburbs of Albany. Schumer said axing the deduction would cost New Yorkers $68 billion.
During a later interview with NY1, Cuomo said eliminating the tax deduction was akin to “a form of modern day treason.”
