THE SHOOTING by a Harlem cop of a knife-wielding, emotionally troubled man was captured on an NYPD body camera video that police plan to release publicly, officials said Monday.

Paris Cummings, 27, was struck in the leg early Sunday evening and is expected to make a full recovery.

The confrontation is the second time in less than two months that body cameras have captured the police shooting of a suspect.

“We will be releasing it at some point,” Police Commissioner James O’Neill said. “I just can’t give you a definite date yet. As these things happen, it’s very different case to case. We’ll definitely release it. We’re looking to build trust with the city.”

Cummings had stabbed himself in the stomach inside a sixth-floor apartment on W. 143rd St., near Riverside Drive. He then called 911, pretending to be a friend reporting what happened.

When Officers Alvin Pizarro and Gina Guerra got off the elevator on the sixth floor, Cummings charged at them with two knives, sources said.

Pizarro fired once, hitting Cummings in the leg. Guerra did not fire her gun.
