6 mos. for B’way con
A FRAUDSTER who stole over $200,000 from investors in a nonexistent Broadway play was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail.
Ronald Scahill, 42, claimed Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o was going to star in a show based on the life of opera singer Kathleen Battle.
He also said that Netflix was going to stream the production. Both were lies.
After he gets out of jail, Scahill will be on probation for five years and must continue psychiatric treatment. He pleaded guilty to grand larceny and scheming to defraud, and has paid about $90,000 in restitution.
