Weiner eyeing sex clinic as part of his Mass. incarceration
IT LOOKS LIKE Anthony Weiner is heading to the Bay State.
The disgraced ex-congressman will reportedly be spending his 21-month prison term in northern Massachusetts.
Weiner, who was sentenced in September, has been assigned to the Federal Medical Center, Devens, in Ayer, Mass., City & State reported.
The medical center, about an hour’s drive northwest of Boston, is one of the few federal lockups that offer residential treatment programs for sex offenders, according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons website.
Weiner, 53, is slated to be incarceerated starting Nov. 6. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges he sent lewd messages and sexual requests to a 15-year-old girl.
Officials at the U.S. Bureau of Prisons did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
Weiner’s attorneys also did not immediately comment.
During his sentencing, Weiner’s attorneys requested that the serial sexter be assigned to a low-security prison close to New York City so that he could maintain contact with his son.
According to the City & State report, Weiner has hired at least two prison consultants to prepare him for his loss of freedom and also has spoken to other former federal prisoners.
According to the Bureau of Prisons website, the Devens center houses 1,117 male inmates.
