Gov’t watchdog head facing drug charge
CITIZENS UNION head Dick Dadey was arrested early Tuesday on drug possession charges.
Dadey, 59, turned himself in about 8:30 a.m. at the 84th Precinct in Brooklyn Heights, police said.
Rumors of Dadey’s impending arrest spread on Oct. 11, but his reps denied it at the time.
On Sept. 20, he took a leave of absence from the good government group. A police source said Dadey went to a drug treatment facility.
Citizens Union announced Tuesday it had replaced Dadey with former Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum.
Investigators found the unspecified drugs in his Remsen St. home after serving a search warrant based on an unrelated allegation, police said.
Dadey was charged with drug possession.
Citizens Union officials declined comment Tuesday.
Dadey could not be reached for comment.
