Gets Glor-y as anchor

- Rachel DeSantis

UPSTATE NATIVE Jeff Glor has been named the new anchor of the “CBS Evening News,” the network said Wednesday.

Glor, 42, has spent the past decade with CBS after kicking off his career there as a New Yorkbased correspondent in 2007. In 2014, he served as an anchor on the network’s streaming channel CBSN, and in 2011, he won an Emmy for a “CBS Sunday Morning” segment.

His predecessor, Scott Pelley, was given the boot in May, after the broadcast finished behind both NBC and ABC in the ratings.

The married father of two children, who hails from Tonawanda, will assume a seat that’s previously been filled by the likes of Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Katie Couric.

Anthony Mason, who has been filling in as anchor since Pelley’s departure, will stick around as senior national correspondent and co-host of “CBS This Morning: Saturday.”
