If it’s your birthday

- FRI., OCT. 27 - SUN., OCT. 29 ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT ALL WEEK Special Alert! Demo alert!

SAM Brooklyn crosses the East River to D do battle in Manhattan in an NBA showdown at MSG as the Knicks host the Nets on Friday at 7 p.m. Friday night traffic near the Lincoln Tunnel is normally a nightmare; my advice for NJ drivers is to avoid 8th Ave. and stick with 10th Ave. Seventh Avenue will be squeezed as well, but I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to Ninth on a Friday night!

The Jets will return to MetLife Stadium on Sunday for a 1 p.m. head-to-head versus the Falcons. Expect jams at the Hudson River crossings to NJ starting around 11 a.m., and return traffic to the city around 5 p.m.

At Barclays Center, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday; on Saturday at 7 p.m., Fall Out Boy will take the stage. On Sunday at 6 p.m., the Nets will play the Nuggets.

On Friday night, a masquerade-themed Halloween party at Stage 48, on 48th St. between Eleventh and Twelfth Aves., will draw tens of thousands of people starting at 9 p.m. They’ll party on until early Saturday morning. Expect turbulence on the West Side Highway in the 40s.

On Saturday, more than a thousand people will gather for the 5 Years After Sandy: We Remember, We Resist, We Rise demonstration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn.

The Lexington Fall Festival, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will close You may not know where your energy is coming from, though you have plenty of it. And you alone have the power to choose what you do with your precious time, energy and spiritual gifts. If you want to be certain that family and household matters don’t distract you from your larger goals, you’ll need to be disciplined and organized, and get support. You share a birthday with Ruby Dee, Sylvia Plath, and John Cleese. MARCH 21-APRIL 19 Be cautious of people who feel like you owe them something, and be equally aware when you feel people owe you something. Let every transaction begin at zero, and test the waters for a while before deciding what to do. Others may come on strong; sidestep any overdirect approach. APRIL 20-MAY 20 One of your most vital professional assets is your ability to coordinate groups. You can do this because you’re so fiercely individual. You don’t like to be told what to do, and you prefer if people work together. Take charge, set that process in motion, and teach the trick of cooperation. MAY 21-JUNE 20 You must take care of yourself, and you know it. It is in fact true that when you have your health, you have everything, because your well-being is the key that turns the lock of the universe. Therefore, focus on being well. Take care of your body. Take care of your soul. We need you. JUNE 21-JULY 22 You would benefit from some social time, among people you’re close with. Get beyond the one-on-one and shift your energy into a small group. However, make it the kind of cabal where you can talk about anything, and where honesty is encouraged, and check out the community vibes. JULY 23-AUG. 22 It’s essential that you get the help you need, and not live like you must go it alone. Perhaps the most serious debility of Leo is the stubborn refusal to be open to the assistance of others. The people in your life care about you, and they will be happy to help you, if you let them. AUG. 23-SEPT. 22 To increase your cash flow, it will help if you decrease your expectations. Then, rather than slogging it out on your own, work with others as a team. This may be in your existing work or business, or a new venture. In any case, cooperation is the keynote, and you’re the one coordinating. SEPT. 23-OCT. 22 You don’t have to go blowing alone. You’ll have more fun with others. True, there are those times when you need to disappear into the night and fly solo. At the moment, though, you’ll have the most fun with a few close companions. Skip the chat room and hang out in an actual room. NOV. 22-DEC. 21 It’s OK to have a public version of your story, and a private version. Not every fact or opinion is everyone’s business. Certain things are strictly for your own information, and you know what those are. Honor a policy of appropriate sharing for a few days, and you’ll see the wisdom in it. DEC. 22-JAN. 19 You will find the deepest companionship with people whose values you share. This goes far beyond your favorite color or pop star. What actually binds you to people are your deepest priorities, such as taking care of children, the importance of doing good work, or your ethical views. JAN. 20-FEB. 18 Play a clean game. You have so many factors working for you that you have no need to cheat or skim an advantage. It can be inconvenient having a conscience, and it may take more time and effort to make decisions. It’s always worth it, because winning is sweeter when it’s honest. FEB. 19-MARCH 20 You have the strength to be yourself, no matter what other people may think. Not everyone does; there’s a risk involved, whether to one’s ego, or an actual risk of being misunderstood. That takes courage, and it also helps cultivate your soul. You are who you are, so boldly be that person.
