Bullets hit 2 on Staten Is. — 1 dead

-

A CELEBRATION ended in tragedy early Saturday when two men leaving a party at a Staten Island catering hall were shot, one fatally, police said.

The two victims, ages 28 and 30 had just left the party on Van Pelt Ave. near Linden Ave. in Mariner’s Harbor and had walked to a bodega at the corner when they got into an argument with a third man about 4:20 a.m.

That man pulled a gun and started firing, hitting the younger victim in the chest. The older man suffered a graze wound to the head, cops said.

The two were driven by private means to Richmond University Medical Center, where the younger victim died. His name was not immediately disclosed.

The gunman ran off after the shooting and hasn’t been found, cops said.

Neighbors said that there have been several fights — and incidents when a gun was fired — outside the corner bodega.

"Every night you see people over there – they’re selling drugs, drinking, fighting all night," said Rene Rivera, who lives nearby. “I don't let my daughter even pass that block. I told my wife, if they don't put me in jail, I’m gonna burn down that f---ing bodega.”
