Ivana: Don was no help with 3 kids

PRESIDENT Trump’s first ex-wife, Ivana Trump, said Sunday that she raised their three children “on my own.”

In an interview with John Catsimatidis, Trump, 68, said that she called the shots when it came to Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump.

Trump divorced the future President in 1992 after 16 years of marriage. Their eldest child, Donald Jr., was about 15 at the time. He’s now 39, while Ivanka is 36 and Eric’s 33.

“I told Donald, ‘There can only be one chef in the kitchen.’ And it was me. So I made all the decisions about the schooling, after-school activities,” Trump said on “The Cats Roundtable” on AM 970.

“I raised them on my own because Donald was always busy and making the deals.”

It wasn’t until the kids turned 21 years old that Trump was able to relate to them.

“He was not the kind of father who would take them to Central Park in the stroller or play games with them. He did not know how to speak the children’s language. He was not able to do it until the kids were in university. He could speak business with them,” Trump said.

“When the kids were 21 years old, I said, ‘Here’s the final product. Now it is your job to continue.’ ”

She kept the kids busy throughout the day with classes and other activities. The boys took karate, skiing and golf classes. Ivanka tried piano, though she didn’t enjoy it, her mother said.

“I told them their values are not to cheat, steal or lie. (Don’t) take drugs, alcohol or smoke,” she said.

Trump appeared on the radio show promoting her new book, “Raising Trump.”

She said her 71-year-old ex had talked of running for President when they were married, but their nasty divorce turned the public against him.

“He was playing with the idea of becoming President, then but then we got the divorce. And that was the scandal. American women — they loved me and hated Donald. So he would never really win. He would never get their vote,” she said.

Trump added that she thought her ex-hubby was doing “a very good job” in the White House.

Donald Trump has five children by three women. In addition to his kids with his first wife, he has a daughter, Tiffany, 24, with Marla Maples, 54, and a son, Barron, 11, with his current wife, First Lady Melania Trump, 47.
