Gridlock panel mulls fee ideas
THE “FIX NYC” committee had its first meeting Monday to consider congestion pricing for those driving into Manhattan, sources told the Daily News.
Members of the 16-person panel and several agencies met at Gov. Cuomo’s Midtown office to figure out a way to bust gridlock — and bring revenue to mass transit.
Sources told The News three plans — panel member “Gridlock” Sam Schwartz’s Move NY plan, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s failed pricing plan and a proposal outlined in a 2008 report on MTA funding from former transit executive Richard Ravitch — were discussed. The traffic impacts of truck deliveries and the taxi and car-app industry were also topics of discussion.
The panel is expected to make its recommendations to Cuomo in December.
