BRIT STORM FOR HARVEY
11 U.K. sex claims vs. Weinstein
BRITISH POLICE are now investigating 11 alleged assaults by Harvey Weinstein against seven women in a widening overseas investigation of the disgraced movie mogul.
London’s Metropolitan Police Service, known as Scotland Yard, did not name Weinstein specifically Tuesday but said the new allegations were part of the same probe that began Oct. 11.
U.K. investigators previously said three alleged victims claimed assaults spanning from the late 1980s to 2015.
Four more alleged victims notified police on Oct. 20, Oct. 24, Oct. 26 and Oct. 28, Scotland Yard said in a statement obtained by the Daily News.
“Officers from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating allegations of sexual assault from seven victims under Operation Kaguyak,” police said in the statement. “There has been no arrest at this stage.”
In a blanket statement, Weinstein’s spokeswoman has said “any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”
The new allegation received Oct. 20 involved a woman allegedly assaulted outside the U.K. in the early 1980s and “will be passed to the local police force in due course,” Scotland Yard said.
The allegation filed Oct. 24 involves a woman allegedly assaulted in Westminster in the mid-1990s, police said.
The woman, who contacted police Oct. 26, reported she was first assaulted outside the U.K. in 2012 and then again in Westminster in 2013 and 2014, police said. The most recent allegation, reported Saturday, involves a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted in Westminster in 1994, police said.
The NYPD, meanwhile is investigating claims by aspiring actress Lucia Evans that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex in his Tribeca office in 2004. The other NYPD probe focuses on allegations that Weinstein committed a forcible sex act on a woman more than 10 years ago, police sources said.
Weinstein, 65, was considered a prominent Tinseltown powerbroker until early October exposés in The New York Times and The New Yorker opened the floodgates to widespread accusations of serial sexual harassment and assault.
More than 90 women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Rose McGowan, Annabella Sciorra, Asia Argento, Natassia Malthe and British actress Lysette Anthony are among those claiming Weinstein raped them.
Weinstein has been fired from the production studio he co-founded, and his wife announced she’s leaving him.
