Tainted pol blames Bubba

IT’S ANOTHER Clinton conspiracy.

Indicted Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s legal team alleged in a motion to dismiss the criminal case against him that the federal charges were brought soon after a top county Democrat approached former President Bill Clinton to talk about the case.

The motion alleges the far-fetched machinations were part of an unsuccessful plot to help the Democrats get control of the state Senate in 2016.

A portion of the brief filed in August that had been sealed until this week contained an affidavit by Oyster Bay Town Councilman Joseph Muscarella, a Republican, claiming “awareness” that Nassau County Democratic Leader Jay Jacobs approached Clinton shortly before the 2016 elections to say that the indictment of Mangano and Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto “had to be done and he needed it now.”

Jacobs on Tuesday called the allegation “absurd and wrong on the face of it.”

“It just didn’t occur,” he said.
