Westchester Legionnaires’ death

ONE OF two people stricken with Legionnaires’ disease at a Westchester County nursing home has died, authorities said Thursday.

The woman, identified by News 12 Westchester as 93-year-old Carmella Scafuri, was diagnosed with pneumonia and passed away on Tuesday.

Another resident at Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care in Croton-on- Hudson also contracted the illness and is being treated, according to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

The New York City Health Department Thursday announced another case of Legionnaires’ disease in Flushing, Queens. There have been 15 illnesses in that area and one person remains hospitalized, health officials said.
