New dad shot dead in Bx. bldg.
Love will keep them alive.
Four survivors of the bike path terror attack gathered at the Argentine Consulate in Midtown Friday and said while they will always carry the pain of seeing five of their friends killed, the love they shared will continue to unite them.
A group of 10 Argentine friends came to New York last week to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their high school graduation.
Five of them died Tuesday when ISIS loving sicko Sayfullo Saipov plowed a rental truck through the bike path and then hit a school bus at Chambers and West St. The 29-year-old accused terrorist was shot by an NYPD officer, effectively ending his rampage. A 22-YEAR-OLD man was found shot to death inside his Bronx apartment building early Friday, cops said.
Raul Melendez was blasted in the head and chest inside the Bronx Blvd. building near E. 224th St. in Williamsbridge. A neighbor found him dead just after 7:30 a.m.
“I don’t know what happened. All I know is that he got shot,” his mother, Minerva Figueroa, said as she wept outside her son’s apartment building. Several relatives stood by her side, lending their support in her moment of grief.
“I don’t know why or who did it,” she said. “I found out this morning.”
Melendez’s father, Raul Melendez Sr., collapsed onto his son’s body as members of the city Medical Examiner Office carried his son out of the building on a stretcher Friday afternoon.
“I f---ing love you, man!” a friend cried out as Melendez was loaded in the back of a coroner van.
Friends said Melendez became a father just two weeks ago.
The gunman was relatively close to Melendez when he was shot, according to police sources. Two shell casings were found near his body, the sources said.
No one had been arrested by late Friday.
