Security study set by Cuomo
ALBANY — In the wake of last week’s terrorist attack in Manhattan, Gov. Cuomo is looking to boost security at vulnerable areas across the state. “The state is going to perform a statewide security study for points of vulnerability,” Cuomo, during a conference call with Sen. Chuck Schumer and reporters Monday. “We will have that done in a couple of months and we’ll take action pursuant to that,” Cuomo said. The study comes after ISIS sympathizer Sayfullo Saipov drove a rented truck down the bike path along the Hudson River in Manhattan on Halloween, killing eight people. Saipov, 29, was shot by an NYPD cop but survived. He faces federal terrorism charges. City and state transportation officials have already placed additional concrete blocks and barriers (photo) along the bike path to block vehicles from traveling on it.
