Jenkins back in the fold
THE GIANTS announced on Tuesday that shutdown corner Janoris Jenkins has been reinstated following his indefinite suspension. Jenkins was suspended last week after he failed to show up to last Monday’s practice following the Giants bye week.
Head coach Ben McAdoo originally said it was an excused absence, but suspended him the next day after revealing the veteran corner failed to communicate his absence to the team.
Jenkins became the second player to be suspended for violating team rules this season, joining fellow corner Dominique-Rodgers Cromartie.
With Jenkins out, the Giants defense allowed 51 points in a home loss to the Rams on Sunday, the most points it had allowed at home since 1964.
Jenkins was not in the Giants locker room during media availability on Tuesday.
ROSTER MOVES
With Jonathan Casillas and B.J. Goodson still banged-up, the Giants added two familiar faces to the linebackers corps on Tuesday.
They re-acquired linebacker Deontae Skinner, who was waived earlier this season and was most recently on the Oakland Raiders practice squad, and also signed Kelvin Sheppard.
Sheppard was with the Giants last season, starting 11 games for them.
The additions come after the Giants waived defensive end Jordan Williams and corner Tim Scott, both of whom played in Sunday’s loss.
Linebacker Nigel Harris (ribs) was also placed on injured reserve.
Casillas (neck) and Goodson (ankle) were both inactive in Sunday’s loss to the Rams.
