Conflict over Rog, Kap meeting
It appears the NFL is trying to smooth things over with Colin Kaepernick. Whether a proposed meeting will happen, is a matter of opinion, it seems.
The quarterback, who has filed a grievance against the league and team owners alleging collusion, has been invited to meet with Roger Goodell, according to a report from ESPN.
NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent contacted Kaepernick via text message on Halloween to update him on the talks regarding social issues that have taken place between players and owners.
At the end of the update, Vincent extended an invitation to meet with Goodell, according to league spokesman Joe Lockhart.
The NFL says it’s still waiting for Kaepernick to respond, but the QB’s lawyer told ABC News that the meeting fell through after a request for a mediator was rejected.
“We responded immediately that Colin would be happy to attend,” attorney Mark Geragos said in a statement to ABC News. “Because of the grievance we asked that a mediator be present. ... Colin’s proposal was rejected.” Kaepernick is still looking for a job as the quarterback carrousel of retreads and backups sign deals with teams.
