O’Neill’s cancer-stricken sis raising money for med bills

- BY EVAN GROSSMAN

Yankee legend Paul O’Neill’s sister has hit some hard times and has turned to a Go Fund Me page to raise the $100,000 she says she needs.

Molly O’Neill, a best-selling cookbook author and the older sister of the former right fielder, has raised more than $30,000 of her goal so far.

She posted that after getting help from family to get her through cancer treatments since last year, she is seeking additional assistance so she can take the next year to work on a book about her life.

“I am writing the book of my life and am seeking $100k to support me and my medications for the year I need to heal, and finish the manuscript,” Molly O’Neill wrote.

A year ago, O’Neill received a liver transplant, but the cancer cells from her old liver “metastasized to my adrenal glands,” she wrote.

“With the help of family, I was able to sustain the year-long recovery from the transplant including the pricy (sic) co-pays for the medications that support my new liver and other essential care,” she posted on her fundraising page.

“My family cannot support another 6-12 month recovery and the additional medications that I will require to replace the steroids and hormones that the adrenals produce.”

Paul O’Neill played 17 years in the majors and is worth a reported $20 million.

The YES Network broadcaster also backed Donald Trump on the campaign trail last year at an event in Florida where Trump told him, “I love you!”

Perhaps O’Neill can talk to Trump about fixing the broken healthcare system that has his sister online seeking help to pay for her meds.
