I lied for Prez, says guilty aide

- Denis Slattery Denis Slattery

A CAMPAIGN aide who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI distorted the truth out of loyalty to President Trump, according to a report on Friday.

George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, misled investigators about his contacts with a professor who he believed had deep ties to Russia because he didn’t want to contradict Trump’s public denials of collusion with the Kremlin, a source told ABC News.

Papadopoulos was arrested in July and accepted a plea deal, admitting that he lied about interactions he had with a professor in England who offered “dirt” on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The aide’s faithfulness was not returned by the President, who’s since referred to him as a “low-level volunteer.” FORMER White House strategist Stephen Bannon is encouraging another billionaire businessman to run for the White House — as a Democrat.

Bannon, who is back in his old role at right wing news site Breitbart, has spoken to Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban several times about the possibility of running for President in 2020, the Daily Beast reported on Friday.

The “Shark Tank” star and Hillary Clinton supporter has openly mulled such a bid, but Bannon’s backing adds a layer of intrigue.

“They talk regularly,” Sam Nunberg, a former Trump adviser and Bannon ally told the website.
