Man, 69, dies two weeks after car hit
AN ELDERLY MAN who was hit by a car as he jaywalked across a Bronx street died after clinging to life for more than two weeks, police said Saturday.
The 69-year-old pedestrian was crossing E. Tremont Ave. near Halperin Ave. in Westchester Square around 12:20 p.m. Oct. 24 when he was hit by a gray Honda Civic, according to cops.
The driver, who was making a left turn onto E. Tremont Ave. from the parking lot of a Chase Bank stayed at the scene and was not charged, police said.
Medics rushed the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died Thursday, according to authorities.
His name was not immediately released as cops worked to track down the man’s family, police said.
