Man, 69, dies two weeks after car hit

AN ELDERLY MAN who was hit by a car as he jaywalked across a Bronx street died after clinging to life for more than two weeks, police said Saturday.

The 69-year-old pedestrian was crossing E. Tremont Ave. near Halperin Ave. in Westcheste­r Square around 12:20 p.m. Oct. 24 when he was hit by a gray Honda Civic, according to cops.

The driver, who was making a left turn onto E. Tremont Ave. from the parking lot of a Chase Bank stayed at the scene and was not charged, police said.

Medics rushed the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died Thursday, according to authoritie­s.

His name was not immediatel­y released as cops worked to track down the man’s family, police said.
