Army tops Duke; Yale gets Ivy share

-

AHMAD BRADSHAW scored on an 18-yard run, Javhari Bourdeau returned a blocked punt for another touchdown, and Army beat mistake-prone Duke, 21-16, on Saturday to finish the season unbeaten on its home turf at Michie Stadium.

Army (8-2), fresh off a dominating 21-0 victory at Air Force, has won six in a row and finished 6-0 at home, the first Army team to be perfect at home in a season since 1996.

Doing so on Veterans Day and two years after Duke had embarrassed the Black Knights 44-3 on their home turf made it a special moment for Army coach Jeff Monken.

“Just a fantastic day to be able to represent the Army and the way we did,” Monken said. “I think that’s the best thing that we can do on this day is play like we did, with a lot of toughness and a lot of grit. It wasn’t perfect, but in the end it was good enough. I’m really, really proud of our team.”

Duke (4-6) was 4-1 in its previous five meetings with Army, but the Blue Devils were done in by mistakes in their sixth straight loss.

YALE 35, PRINCETON 31: Kurt Rawlings threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns as Yale (8-1, 5-1) charged back and then held on at Princeton to clinch a share of the Ivy League title.

COLUMBIA 18, CORNELL 8: Chris Schroer had 27 carries for 183 yards and a touchdown and Josh Wainwright had 140 yards receiving as visiting Columbia (7-2, 4-2 Ivy) led the entire way. Columbia built an 11-0 lead through three quarters with fields of 26, 33 and 28 yards from Oren Milstein and a defensive safety when the Lions wrapped up Jack Gellatly with Cornell backed up against its own end zone.

STONY BROOK 38, WAGNER 10: Jordan Gowins rushed 16 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns and Donald Liotine added 79 yards and a score on just eight carries as Stony Brook (8-2) breezed past visiting Wagner in their first meeting since 2006.

MARIST 38, MOREHEAD STATE 31: Mike White threw two of his three touchdowns passes and Willie Barrett made two fumble recoveries in the fourth quarter to rally host Marist (4-6, 3-4 Patriot).

MONMOUTH 41, GARDNER-WEBB 14: Kenji Bahar threw two of his four touchdown passes to Reggie White Jr. and host Monmouth (9-1, 4-0) scored 20 first-quarter points to win its seventh straight to stay undefeated in Big South play.

SACRED HEART 16, ST. FRANCIS (PA.) 7: Ezekiel Ennis ran for a 76-yard touchdown on the first play of the game, and visiting Sacred Heart (4-6, 2-3 NEC) made it stand with three field goals by Josh Freiria. — AP
