It was both heartbreaking and inspiring to see video last week of Buoniconti, the NFL Hall of Famer, declare he isn’t half the person he used to be. He announced he will be donating his brain to CTE research upon his death. For two decades as a player with the Patriots and Dolphins, and two more as a co-host for HBO’s “Inside the NFL,” Buoniconti displayed a unique blend of leadership, performance and a willingness to express himself on numerous issues. Buoniconti was the center of attention without trying to attract attention. We wish him well in his battle to stay healthy and to find a cure for those who follow.
