Call to shake up TSA for screwups
SEN. CHUCK Schumer said regular airport security lapses are “unacceptable,” and is calling on Transportation Security Administration leaders to improve agents’ training and upgrade screening technology.
The Democrat’s call for a full review of TSA procedures comes after a Homeland Security Department undercover test showed investigators were able to sneak banned items past TSA screeners about 80% of the time.
“In an era of lone wolf terrorists, the continued TSA security failures at airports across the country are highly concerning and a major threat we must neutralize,” Schumer said.
The TSA, he added, “should move immediately to address all holes, shortfalls and gaps in training procedures, technology and the entire airport security process.”
