Don’t Zee the need

ALBANY — An online petition seeking to strip Mario Cuomo’s name off the new Tappan Zee Bridge had generated nearly 44,000 as of Monday evening.

The petition posted by Port Chester resident and Republican Monroe Mann on Change.org says the $4 billion new bridge should keep the old Tappan Zee moniker rather than honor the current Gov. Cuomo’s late father, who served three terms as governor.

Cuomo spokeswoman Abbey Fashouer said the Legislature passed the law naming the bridge in a bipartisan manner.
