DC Comics big out over gropes

A HIGH-RANK­ING ed­i­tor at DC Comics was fired Mon­day, three days af­ter he was sus­pended amid claims that he forcibly kissed and groped three fe­male em­ploy­ees. Ed­die Ber­ganza, 53, who has su­per­vised projects re­lated to Su­per­man and Won­der Woman, was ter­mi­nated af­ter a Buz­zFeed re­port Fri­day ex­posed a long­time pat­tern of sex­ual ha­rass­ment that had been an in­dus­try­wide open se­cret.

The vet­eran ed­i­tor (photo), a DC em­ployee since the early 1990s, had risen through the ranks over the years de­spite his rep­u­ta­tion. In 2010, five co-work­ers re­ported him to hu­man re­sources in a joint com­plaint.

“We are com­mit­ted to erad­i­cat­ing ha­rass­ment and en­sur­ing that all em­ploy­ees, as well as our free­lance com­mu­nity, are aware of our poli­cies, are com­fort­able re­port­ing any con­cerns and feel sup­ported by our Com­pany,” DC said in a state­ment.
