On second thought

-

Last week we criticized several people who were elected or reelected as Civil Court judges but failed to meet the deadline either to file either a personal financial disclosure or to complete the mandatory campaign ethics training course. We included Connie Melendez of Brooklyn because there was no record of her disclosure with the court’s Ethics Commission. Turns out, someone named Consuelo Mallafre had submitted the form by deadline; she is the same person as Connie Melendez.

In the future — we can’t believe we have to say this — the Ethics Commission should require filers to include all their names. And wannabe judges should be smart enough to file their paperwork using the same first and last name that appears on the ballot. Duh.
