Hey, I ‘print’ money, baby

- Denis Slattery

TREASURY Secretary Steven Mnuchin is on the money, but a Bronx lawmaker thinks his signature is a little off.

“Looks like @stevenmnuchin1 needs to learn cursive writing!” Democratic Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz tweeted Thursday morning with a photo of Mnuchin’s name on a new dollar bill.

Mnuchin was photographed examining freshly printed $1 bills a day earlier and the world got its first look at the Tresury czar’s incredibly legible signature. The 54-year-old New York native’s name is printed on the bills, but is not written in cursive.

Mnuchin’s unorthodox penmanship puzzled Dinowitz — who has introduced a bill in Albany that would make writing in script a fundamental part of New York schoolkids’ education.

“When you see the treasury secretary printing his name when he’s supposed to be signing it struck me as odd,” Dinowitz told the Daily News. “I don’t want to start anything, but is the money really official if he didn’t technically sign it?”
